Box Show 2006 General Information

The Lenawee Council for the Visual Arts is announcing it's 4th Annual Box Show beginning August 17th and ending September 30th. What is the Box Show you ask? It is the LCVA's only fundraiser of the year. The LCVA invites all artists from near and far to donate works of art to be sold during a silent auction on September 30th, 2006. Artist contributions will allow the LCVA to continue to provide a location for local artists to share their love of art with the community. In addition to providing opportunities for visual artists, the LCVA provides educational opportunities and scholarships for local students, helps foster pride and involvement in the local community, and creates awareness of local/regional/global issues through art. Box Show artists helped raise over $3000 dollars last year. With your help we hope to exceed that this year. Details for the Box Show include the following:

Please provide art that takes the form of a box, embellishes a box, is contained within a box, is attached to a box, or depicts a box. The exhibition includes both functional and nonfunctional boxes.

100% of your art contribution will go towards funding the LCVA.

There is no size limit or restrictions (as long as it fits through the door, 34”x80”)

Bring your donation to the LCVA Gallery on any of the following days. Saturday, August 12th, 12-4 pm, Monday, August 14th, 4-8 pm or Tuesday, August 15th, 4-8pm. You may also drop off your artwork anytime before the silent auction during normal gallery hours. The gallery is open Thursday, 4-8pm, Friday, 10-2 pm and 4-8 pm and Saturday, 4-8pm. The gallery is located on 112 West Maumee Street in downtown Adrian, MI. 265-4403.

This year, juror Peggy Grant, Art Director of Toledo's 20 North Gallery will present awards.

The Silent Auction will be held on September 30th, 2006, 7 – 9 pm. Wine, cheese and hors d’oeuvres will be served. Public invited.
